FAIR EXAMS WILL TURN NIGHTMARE , TILL “HOME CENTER” CONCEPTS GETS RUINED.

Recently  the board official claim 20 % dropdown in copying cases in HSC exam. If it’s a fact,  as a parent I will be happiest person. But unfortunately history suggest  that the claim and reality does not go hand -in-hand.

HSC Exams are in last stage now while SSC exams are just resumed.  After speaking with parents and students of the Navi Mumbai regarding exam centers and making analysis of the information one can conclude that ,  the claim of board regarding computerized allotment of centres is turning  to  be a “myth”.  Being aware of fact that “Home centers ”are the root cause for malpractices in exam , several educational activists raised demand of abolishing the concept of home centers.  In response to that the Board authority had made claim that the allotment of centers to the SSC/HSC students is totally based on computerized system and there are very few chances that as per the alphabetical names students gets their own schools as a exam centre. Unfortunately the fact is totally different and most of the students are getting their schools as a exam centers only.
Just have a glance on two schools as a representative examples of Nerul and Vashi located in peripherals of 500 mtrs distance. What is observed that in both schools the English medium students availed 100 % home center while only the Marathi medium students are swapped. Most of the Belapur students also got their school as a exam center.  For most cases fact is same. With this the question arises that why board is not ready to opt the policy of ruined the home centers even though In city like Navi Mumbai and other such cities schools are available within the short distance.

Secondly another way to overrule the vested interest of students as well as teachers and the affinity between them which acts as a catalyst for malpractices is adoption of policy of “stranger supervisors”.  With unfamiliar supervisors students will definitely have a fear in mind.

With “gair margaviruddh ladha”  abhiyan(drive against malpractises) the Mahrashtra Board is projecting that the board is in the favor of curbing the malpractices in exam . If it is so then why board administration is not opting the simple majors which can help lot to meet the Boards “FREE and FAIR” exam motto. It’s hard but the truth is that board itself had a fear for deterioration of result. The unearth fact is that cheat free exam will drastically drop down the skyrocketing percentage of result.

Yeh…its true that swapping of students and teachers policy will face hurdle in rural region where there is scarcity of alternative schools. Let it be ok . But at least  board should  came forward to curb the ‘home center ’ policy where there is nearby schools are available. To start with urban area can turn first step  towards free and fair exams. Another myth the board and its officials are projects   that the normally using unfair means during examination  generally takes places in rural area and most of the urban areas are free from it. This is part of disgusting campaign. With open eyes approach board will came to know the fact which is not far different  from rural region, only thing is that the name of the rural region has a bad image. “Keep quiet while copying, says supervisor” (DNA 5th March News on page 2) will definitely help in unearth the truth about the urban region. Info reveals that , In Mumbai division there are some exam centers where 2 students appear on single bench for exam. Centre with  tin shade in Govandi (Shivaji Nagar) is live example of such scenario.

Instead of just campaigning  about the steps taken by board to ruined unfair practices in exam by different means like ‘shkshan sankraman’ magazine and media , board must  came forward strongly with ground level implementation of such steps. Now a day’s parents and society are more alert and aware, they get exact information through students appearing for exam which is most reliable than any other means. To overcome the bad image of board regarding conduction of vital exams of SSC/HSC board must ‘act ’strongly since “action speaks louder than words”. Unless and until people realizes the head of board’s action the clarification from boards representative will turn useless.

The recent instruction of board for use of existing CCTV cameras to keep vigil on exam hall to enlighten the unfair means and to stop them put forward ‘vision’ of board administration. Such instructions need to be issued well in advance. This is approach is like “doctors came after death”. Instead of actual doing on root level board is more interested in just projecting the effort so that they can praise themselves.

HSC and SSC examinations percentage plays key role in deciding ones educational future. Knife edge competition for junior college and engineering –medical admission is indeed demands the ‘free and fair ‘ examination.
As said ‘where there is will, there is a way’ ; several remedial ways  can be opted to curb the unfair practices in examination process right from question paper leakage,  copy in the centre , teachers-school administration direct involvement in illegal activities to post exam scams. Unfortunately sore truth is that there is draught of will power in among board administration only.

Henceforth to know the real ground level picture of each and every centre , board should start taking feedback from students and parents. This will turn the genuine way to access the fact. Thereafter board can act according to the feedback.

DNA’s consistent efforts for fair educational  system are truly  praiseworthy . Parents and activist are quiet optimistic that , day will definitely come on which their dream about fair educational system will come true.
